Everyone in the Universe is a Creative
So often people come up to me and say “Creative Collected is so cool, but I’m not a creative”! Well, I’ve got news for you, yes, yes you are. Everyone is a creative. Just because an obvious or typical creative may paint, or sing, or take really artsy photos, doesn’t mean that you are not a creative soul. We all are. Here at Creative Collected, we are believers in Christ, and the fact that God created the universe, everything in it, and us in His image. So if we are made in the image of the ultimate Creator, then we must all, by default, be creative as well.
I think we can all get caught up in trying to label or box in creativity. But simply put, creativity is thinking beyond what you’ve been told, dreaming, and/or expressing outwardly something that is inside you.
Webster’s dictionary defines Creativity like this:
1. the state or quality of being creative.
2 .the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination: the need for creativity in modern industry; creativity in the performing arts.
3. the process by which one utilizes creative ability:
Reading that, no matter who you are, if you’ve ever had a new idea, you are a Creative. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about how to operate from the stance our soul was created to.
Rest. When we are constantly creating new thoughts, patterns, ideas, dreams, art, expressions… we can easily exhaust ourselves down to a soul level. So why do we believe in operating out of rest instead of taking a rest? Because when you get to the point where you have to take a rest, you’ve extended yourself beyond what you were designed to.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you were created to sit around and not exude any energy. I’m saying, we weren’t created to live in a ‘burn-out/rest’ cycle. This isn’t good for our bodies, our mind, our spirit, our relationships, our purpose, and even our ability to grow and meet goals.
When we operate in the ‘burn-out/rest’ cycle, we are limiting out potential, and limiting our freedom.
Creative Collected was birthed out of a place where I was personally arrested by the Spirit of God and given a mandate to find rest, live out of it, and take as many people along the journey as I can! So that’s what we are doing here. Taking you along the journey, Creatives, to finding rest, living lightly, creating freely, and walking fully in our purposes.
Over the next few weeks I’d love to jump into some of the things that God has shown me about rest, about His nature, and about Creation. But for now, just try to find some time today to pause, ponder, and praise. Take a deep breath, and quiet the noise around you for just a moment, and there your soul will find peace.
