Walk in Wonder
There is something about the feeling we get when we experience something for the first time… when our dreams literally come true… when we are in awe! So why do we just let that go? Why do we just settle into this unexciting pace, of tasks and regimented days, and forget to stop and search for more?
When did we lose our sense of wonder? When did the desire for discovery, magnitude, and awe retire? When in our lives did we trade our freedom in for blasé? I don’t know when it was for me, but as I look around, I see a natural progression of awestruck to unimpressed and it burdens me.
Sometimes I look at children and think they are the only free people on this earth. And all we are trying to do is teach them how to grow up! Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, they are here to teach us how walk in wonder!
I don’t know the answers, but I don’t want fall prisoner to the regimented underwhelmed daily grind. I’d like to be the kind of person who is still awestruck, who still dreams. I’d like to be the kind of person who walks in wonder, like the free.
Because how can we create, when we are no longer moved by creation? So next time you feel burdened, heavy, overwhelmed, and unimpressed. Find something to be moved by, rest in that, and wonder once again!
