You Don't Need That

Even Jesus couldn’t do miracles in his hometown. So why are we surprised, hurt even, when people box us into who we were, or don’t give us the benefit of the doubt, when we grow or change. I just want to encourage you today, if Jesus couldn’t do miracles in his home town, we can’t expect everyone around us, to always see our movement. Even friendships/people from our past can hold us to who we were, not letting us evolve into the people we were designed/called to be.

So take a deep breath, you are not alone.

Sometimes I think we forget that our progress is not for the approval of others, it’s for us. It’s for us becoming something we dreamed we could be. It’s for us letting go of hurt and pain so we can walk a little lighter. It’s for us learning how to be healthier so we can raise our kids with more wisdom than we had. It’s so we can live a life of rest without the burden of “not enough” or “too much” my personal binding mantras. It’s so we can walk in freedom.

So why is it that we allow other to seal away the freedom we are fighting for, for ourselves? Maybe because we are desperate to belong to something bigger than ourselves? Or maybe because we seek value in the wrong places? I don’t know what your reasons are, but for me it’s just that. When you are feeling like someone or something is hindering you from becoming your best self, I want to encourage you to remember you are worth fighting for. In the eyes of the Creator, you’re worth dying for. And in our eyes, you’re worth creating a collective just so that you have a space to fly!

So next time someone tries to box you in, or force you to live in your past… remember it’s not for them, it’s for you and those to come after you. And rise tall, finding validation in who you are, and who you are becoming. And in the fact that the Creator of the universe see’s you and is drawing you in to become your best self.

You’ve got this.
